Make your reservations now to attend
the
February AAUW luncheon and Speech Trek Contest in the
Bellatrix Ballroom
of the Classic Club, Palm Desert,
California
The Speech Trek
Contest features high school students from throughout
the Coachella Valley. Contestants will deliver an
original five-minute speech, by memory. They will be
expressing their opinions on “ Bullying…so what?” and
will answer the question, “ Where do we go from here”?
You can expect to hear some emotionally charged
speeches, as well as ideas of where to begin to
eliminate bullying, which has become more prominent in
the press and more widespread with the use of modern
technology. We hear almost daily of the impact it has
within our schools. Please honor these students’
efforts by attending this luncheon and the Speech Trek
program that follows.
Judges for the
final contest are prominent community leaders, Gregg
Burton, Editor of the Desert Sun, Jean Ann Hirschi,
well-known local attorney and philanthropist, and Sue
Steding, recently retired Assistant District Attorney
for Riverside County, currently working to start a new
law school in the Coachella Valley.
Please join us on Saturday, February 11, 2012, promptly at 11:00 am in The Bellatrix Ballroom of the Classic Club in Palm Desert.
