About Us
AAUW was established in 1881 and it is the nation's oldest and largest
organization working to promote education and equity for women and girls ever
since.
AAUW is a national organization of more than 100,000 college graduates which promotes
equity for all women and girls, life-long education, and positive societal change. Membership
is open to all graduates who hold an associate's or higher degree from an accredited college or
university.
Student-affiliate status in AAUW is available for anyone now studying for a bachelor's
degree at a qualified institution. Until graduating with that degree, a student-affiliate may
participate in all AAUW activities except for holding office or voting.
AAUW is the oldest and largest national organization working for equity and the advancement of women
through education.
The Palm Springs Branch, founded in 1949, has continued to promote and demonstrate its commitment
to the education of women both at the local level and worldwide.
We offer a varied program of social projects and community action, interest groups,
and an opportunity to work toward common goals while creating a network of friends.
Membership is open to all graduates who have an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited
college or university.
AAUW Palm Springs Branch members meet the second Saturday of the month from
September to June. Monthly meetings
feature speakers and invite discussion of current issues, women's issues, and other timely
interesting topics. Many members participate in a variety of interest groups.
Our Mission Statement
AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and
research. In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a
diversified membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation
in the organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual
orientation, national origin or disability.
Our Vision Statement
AAUW Palm Springs Branch is committed to making a significant impact on education and
equity for all women and girls. We will remove barriers and develop
opportunities to enable women and girls to reach their full potential.
This shared vision drives the work of AAUW at all levels.
